Oh, It’s Just Behavioral
by Dr. Liz Matheis
The reality is that no child ever wakes up one day and “decides” to be behavioral.
If you’ve ever worked with Dr. Liz, you know this is a common phrase for her.
It’s our job as the parents, teachers, behaviorists, occupational therapists, counselor/psychologist, speech therapists to find the underlying reasons that are contributing to our child’s behavior. And please don’t tell me it’s due to ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder) – that doesn’t give us any information other than someone didn’t feel like doing the research.
Let’s find the reason(s) rather than giving our children a label.
